Now that the Project is technically over i wish i had found the ink drop videos sooner so id have more time to experiment with different colours and containers. If i was to carry on the project i would combine the video of me reacting to the song with the ink drops, both reacting to the song at the same time. I would also use my own music in the video to make the whole thing my work. But as I've really enjoyed working in animation and the ink drop effect i will probably be carrying on this projects in my own time, so expect more to come. . .

Ink Drop Video + Audio React Video

I then took the footage i recored into Adobe Premiere Pro just to see what the software was like, i quickly got used to the basic editing techniques of the software so i edited the footage to react to the audio by reversing and speeding up to the song, this is the result. . .

Compared to the other videos iv watched there pretty much the same except in mine u can see the curvature of the glass. the only ink i had was blue and white, here are some of the screenshots of my first few attempts. . .

Ink Drop Experiment

After watching some more ink drop experiments i decided to try it myself, my initial thought was that i needed like a big fish tack set up to capture the ink, but i just tried a set up with a pint glass, the lighting wasn't great in the studio so i set it up in a dark room with a projector underneath with white paper behind as to capture the colour of the ink, this experiment turned out much better than i thought. . .

Whilst randomly watching a youtube mix this track came on and i really loved it, i flicked over to the tap and saw the video, i was instantly mesmerised, so i knew i wanted to try this effect of ink in water. . . 

Cymatics Experiment

after researching how to create such effects, i decided to give it ago. there is a frequency generator in fl studio so i decided to use that, unfortunately the only speaker i had was a small portable speaker which when placed under a tray only vibrated the particles randomly at certain frequencies. if i was to do this again i would invest in a larger speaker or one that i could take apart, and also do it in an environment where no one would mind the loud single note tones.

Cymatics

The study of visible sound co vibration, typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid. Different patterns emerge in the excitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency.

i looked into this technique because its a physical representation of my project rather than digital, and the fact that the effects it creates are so amazing. here is the video that inspired me to try it. . . 

Macro Animation

One of my tutors Dave brought in some machines that create a macro projection of what ever is under the sense. all i had on me was my cig papers and filters so i put them under it to see what it looked like, i then decided to draw onto the paper which created a cool effect. I then tried some ripped paper and the edges created what look like an abstract landscape. i also tried a swan filter packet which led me and dave to create an animation where the swan stays still but due to each print of the swan being slightly different it created a glitch effect.

After Effects First Video Experiment

After recording the video i went into photoshop and created the ring effects, then brought them into after effects where i blended them over the video and made them expand and retract at the right times, this is the final outcome. . .

After Effects Video Shoot

I had an idea in the studio of having circles burst from my hand movements that go along to the song, i choose the song Zes - Bliss because he's one of my favourite producers at the moment, so i filmed myself in the studio reacting to the song.
